How can you obtain your non-profit organization's 501(c)3 doentation form?

We cannot find the original doentation due to a structural fire in which a known copy was kept. We have the state doentation saying that we are tax exempt, but cannot locate the federal one. Could we go to the county or capital courthouse and look in archives or would we need to contact the archives building in DC?
