DIFFERENCE IN VOLUME ON MY GUITARS?

I have a Fender Starcaster and an American made Strat , which I just got . For some reason the Starcaster has alot more volune to it than my Strat . All things being equal with the amp - vol , tone etc , I have to turn the volume knob up to about 7 or 8 to get the same volume out of my Strat , as I do out of my Starcaster at level 3 or 4 on the volume knob . Any reason why this might be ? Is there anything I can do to get more volume out of the Strat ?
