The Simpsons Game Nintendo Wii Can't Get Bartman to fly!?!?!?

So i'm only on the second level in the planetarium..I have Homer weighing down the one side of the satellite so that Bart can jump to the earth, but i can't get on the earth! I have been trying for hours so PLEASE PLEASE tell me what I'm doing wrong!!!!
